Billy Joel has now played well over 100 shows at the legendary Madison Square Garden, and regardless if you have seen him or not in the past, this is a concert series worth seeing.
However, what no one is talking about is what are best seats and best deals are for Billy Joel’s concert at MSG. If you are in the know like TickPick is, then you’d know that the seats in sections 111-113 (the sections behind the stage) are unquestionably the best deals that one can get on Billy Joel tickets for any of his MSG concerts. In the following piece, we are going to provide you detailed information regarding Billy Joel’s MSG concert, available tickets, and important details about the seating chart explaining why the aforementioned tickets are such a good deal.
Billy Joel’s official MSG website is dedicated to his performances, however, it doesn’t provide any information regarding seats and little information regarding tickets since every concert in 2020 is ‘sold out’. With that said, TickPick does have reasonably priced Billy Joel tickets available for resale and you can find the same Billy Joel seats on TickPick, at prices 10% cheaper than our leading competitor.

Billy Joel Madison Square Garden Seating Chart Tips
Billy Joel’s piano at Madison Square Garden is set up so that it rotates 360 degrees; you know what that means? Billy Joel, his organizers, and MSG are making sure that everyone gets a good view at some point during his concert. Unlike most concerts at MSG, tickets throughout the whole venue are sold, this helps them maximize profits and the venue’s capacity.
Okay, so for the Billy Joel concert at MSG – there’s actually a little secret… the seats behind the stage are marked as ‘rear view’ – but the way Billy plays you can see the concert perfectly and those sections (111-113) provide the best ticket deals and some consider them the best seats for Billy’s MSG concert.
The feedback that we received from people was that unless they were in the first 5 rows on the floor (sections A, B, or C) then these rows 10 – 20 in sections 111-113 were better.

Why Are Sections 111-113 Such a Good Deal?
First off, depending on the tickets they will say, rear view, or obstructed view, this fact alone is going to scare off the majority of people from sitting in these sections and that’s understandable because unless you can see pictures (like the ones above) you’d have to take the organizers word that they are obstructed. With that said, a couple hundred tickets in the sections have sold on TickPick and we’ve only heard good things.
However, it is important to know that row 6 is the first row in sections 111-113, which sounds like a good thing, but we advise our fans to avoid the first couple of rows in these sections. That’s because a little bit of height is a good thing. It’s possible that for example section 111 row 6, is obstructed by the stage configuration such as lights and cameras, etc.
Sections 110 and 114 also have good deals, however, we find the angles are not as good as 111-113 and there are thin cables that hang from the ceiling that has the potential to obstruct your view. But don’t take our word for it, check it out for yourself: Billy Joel Tickets with no hidden fees.
Best Seats for Billy Joel at MSG
For the majority of the concert, Billy Joel’s piano faces to either the right or left of the stage. This allows fans in front of or behind the stage to have a similar view. But if you are sitting in sections 108-109 or 115-116 you will be looking at Billy straight on for a good portion of the show, making these sections the most sought-after (and most expensive).
Billy Joel MSG Ticket & Seating Chart Q&A
Q. In the 111 section for the Billy Joel concert, is there a large screen visible? A friend of mine who sat facing the stage said the large screens enhanced the show, but they were not sure if those people sitting in the back also had a screen to view.
A. You will not be able to see the main screens from sections 111-113, however, there are a few screens that you’ll be able to see so you can watch Billy Joel occasionally. With that said, you’ll be significantly closer to the stage, so you shouldn’t have to watch a screen.
Q. Do most people stand or sit at Billy Joel?
A. Some do, some don’t. If you have a ticket in the floor sections, be prepared to stand for the entire show. Most people in the upper and lower bowls sit until “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant” comes on, and then stand through the encore.

Does anyone know if these Madison Club seats include food?
How are the madison club level suites behind section 112? Do you still get a good view of the stage? Also, can the big screen be seen from the suites?
Hi Antonio – As far as seats behind the stage go, section 112 is the best option. That said the added height of the suites might make it a bit more difficult to see the entire stage. There are screens facing behind the stage, and the view of those should be full from the Madison club.
I’m purchasing BJ tix for fathers day weekend next month. I have read all the comments about the greatness of sec 112 and am prepared to pull the trigger. However, before I do, I am just wondering about the Madison Suite tix just above. Is that a lounge area? If so am wondering if it might be more comfortable with room to stand, comfortable seating, and easier access to bar. Thoughts?
I would like to buy a ticket to the Billy Joel Show on June 17th.
What section is better 112 or 113?
How would rows 11 or 20 be in section 112?
Hey there,
I’m trying to buy tickets for my boyfriend for Billy Joel’s July show. I’m a college student, so I was going to buy the cheapest ones I could get (416 Rear facing)… Are they really going to be terrible? I don’t want it to be a bad experience for him.
I am deciding between Section 109/115 and the 111-113 sections mentioned in this article. Which is better for this show?
109 and 115 are better for the show, but tickets in sections 111-113 are much cheaper and are a better value.
Considering buying tickets for later this year (2016) and heading up from Mobile, Alabama. Is the stage setup still the same? Section 111-113 still strong choices?
That is correct!
Hi, what is your opinion of Bridge seats (sect 315) for Billy Joel? Do they sell the barsttol seats for his concerts? Thanks in advance.
October’s tickets just went on sale and I got 6 Barstool seats in the west balcony, section 322. Looking forward to having room to dance and a place to put drinks! Any feedback?
Based on recommendations, we just got seat for Billy’s August MSG show in section 112, row 16. Thanks!
Hi – I have a few choices for Billy Joel. 1) Section 113 Row 12 Seats 14 and 15.
2) Section 115 Row 18 Seats 15 &16, 3) Bridge Section 314 Row 2 Seats 12 and 13. I am inclined to go with the Section 113, based on advice read here (and cheapest), and have sat back there for Pete Seeger birthday concert -( awesome). But – we also sat in Bridge seats for Stevie Wonder. We had a wonderful time up there, good sight lines (close section of bridge) though of course, far from stage. But …surprisingly enjoyable..you can move around, and just really fun.We vowed we would get seats up there again, thinking they are cheaper than below ( They are not ). but would probably prefer closer to B.J himself. Advice? Which would give us the best sight lines and enjoyment. That is more important to us right now. I am thinking that even though Section 115 is more expensive than Section 113, there might be stage rigging blocking a bit. Advice? Thank you very much.
Hello,
What is your opinion as to whether section 210 or 217 has a better view? Is 217 obstructed at all even though it is behind the stage? Thanks for your help!
What is the best way to get Floor A-C through Ticketmaster, I’ve gone on for presale exactly at 10am 1st day it’s impossible. Any one have any insight here?
Billy Joel, February 13th, 2016, Section 112, Row 7… Anyone have any first hand experience with those seats? If I understand correctly, that is the “2nd” row from the front for that section? How is the view?
Hi! I was at last night’s show. Based on this blog’s recommendation, I went with seats in section 113, row 12!
They were awesome! Thanks so much!
how is section 221 row 9? is it obstructed? we have tickets for february Billy Joel concert and wanted to know what the view may be like. Thanks
How were those seats? we are going tomorrow 221 row 9 seats 1-4
How is section 219? I know they are higher up, but will there be an obstructed view???
Went to the 12/17/15 show at MSG. Sat in section 111, row 12, seat 19 (on the aisle across from section 112). Absolutely amazing seats!! I definitely would not go lower than row 12, and I would say that rows 14-16 are probably the best. Row 12 is excellent except that there are about 3 standing lights per section that are just high enough that they might block your view of the piano ever so slightly but you can just lean to the side no problem. Sitting behind the stage was so much fun, the band really gets into it and often turns around and plays right to you.
any feedback on section 112, row 22? is that too far up?
how do you think section 114 row 21 would be? is the height of the stage the issue, or is is it that there is a portion of the stage obstructing the view from this section? thanks!
Hi – You should be alright with those seats, although the ideal seats behind the stage are in section 111-113. There may be the corner of the stage/lighting set up partially obstructing your view.
We went to the Nov. 19th show MSG. Got Section 112, row 15, seats 18 and 19. Absolutely perfect. There is room to go even lower without any obstructions but did not physically check how low.
How is section 110 row 17? They were actually cheaper than 111-113 when I bought them. Any obstruction?
Tim – You’ll have a great view of the stage and there should not be any true obstruction of the concert. We do believe that Sections 111-113 are slightly better though, which may explain the higher prices for those sections.
Did u like the seats?
Section 114 row 6. Seats 1 and 2. Are these obstructed?
Shan – Because of the stage setup right on the rear corner of the stage, those seats may partially obstruct your view of the concert. However, it’s always best to check the seller notes and the notes printed on the actual ticket for the most accurate information regarding limited views.
This is great information – thank you. After reading this originally I purchased section 112 directly behind stage row 6 – 1st row. I need to tell you these are the best seats in the house other than section B 1st three rows. There was no obstruction we actually spoke to the band as the were exiting and entering the stage right in front of us. I spent 9 months attempting to get these exact seats again and I just purchased them rather than purchasing section B 15 row. So thanks again – just wanted to let you know you were dead on except that if in section 112 row 6 is the way to go.
Section 115, row 10. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!
Duckie – As long as the tickets are not marked as “obstructed view” I would say those are good seats! There may be a bit of stage items somewhere in your view, but Billy Joel will be facing your direction at times during the concert and you’ll be close to the stage.
Thanks, Joe!
is row 12 in section 112 obstructed for the Billy Joel concert ?
It’s about as low as you’d want to sit. Any lower, and the rear stage setup will possibly block part of your view of the performance. Row 15-19 would be a little better in my opinion if possible!
Hi Joe!
How about 111 Row 12, Same concern or does is this angle better?
Thanks!
Same concern on those, it would be best to sit a few rows higher!
Hi, My wife and I are going to see Billy Joel in MSQ on 20 Nov. We are coming over from UK and the only seats I good get is Section 225, Row 24. Any good. Bob
Hi Bob – Those are pretty high up to be honest.
Hey there, My wonderful boyfriend gave me tickets to see my all time hero Billy Joel on nov 20th. We’ll be flying especially from Rotterdam, The Netherlands to see him live!
He got us floor tickets section D, row 5. ( that should come down to row 35) Can anyone tell me how far away from the stage that actually is? (Pref in metres) I’m taking a small point and shoot camera, but want to know if that’s of any use, if they are going to suck, my iphone will do;) Has anyone been able to get a DSLR in? Is there a lot of photographs being taken? How does Billy respond to them? Can’t find much info online. Thanks for yopur answers. Everyone else that will be going: Have a great time!!!
Deborah
Section B, floor, row 3. Good seats, or will people be standing in front of me?
Alan – Section B is right in front of the stage, and you are in the 3rd row of the section. There will be 2 rows of people between you and the stage. Enjoy!
Is section 112 also good for the Jingle Ball Concert?
Bill – Definitely not! You will not have a view of the stage at all. It’s not an open stage like it is for Billy Joel.
Floor C row 4 or floor B row 7?
Floor B Row 7
I have seats for section 110 row 22, are those seats good for billy joel?
I have tickets for section 111 row 16. Can you give some feedback on these seats? Thanks!
Melissa – Those are fantastic seats. I see you took our blog advice and grabbed seats behind the stage, and not too low of a row. Good work!
Saw Billy Joel at MSG on 9/26/15. We had section 112, row 16. Great seats! Unless you can get seats in front of the stage (within the first few rows), these seats rocked! Billy Joel (and his piano) are on a revolving stage and we could see him just as good as anyone sitting in front of the stage. The only time had his back to us was near the end when he wasn’t playing piano and rocked it on the mic. That was probably 3 songs he wasn’t on piano. Completely recommend section 112.
I know sections 111-113 are great, but what are your thoughts on Sections 415, 416 and 417?
Those sections are not ideal for a concert
Thanks for the info! Appreciate it.
i have tickets for section 111 row 8, does anyone know if these tickets have a decent view?
I have tickets for section 111 row 8? does anyone know if these have a decent view? I am nervous!
anyone know if section 109 is decent???
Hi there,
My girlfriend and I are heading to NY in November and are both huge fans of Billy’s.
Just wondering what the seats were like in section F or section 3? I mean, are they actual seats or does everybody stand? My girlfriend and I are quite tall (5’11” and 6’2″ respectively) so we aren’t completely against standing but wonder if it’s worth sitting/standing here or getting a bit more of a vantage point in sections 119/120?
If anyone could let me know, that would be great. Cheers 🙂
Hi – People will likely be standing for at least some of the show in those sections. I would advise going with sections 119/120 rather than sitting in the back floor sections.
Hi, I have an option for tix in either Lounge 306, Row 1, or Sect 113, Row 17. Both are similar in price. Which would you suggest?
hello suebydoo, what did you end up doing? which was better? really curious about the seats up in the bridge?
Hi. Do i get anything special in the Madison Club 66? Food, Drink? For Billy Joel
Did you get food or drink with the Madison Club? We are going later this month to see Billy Joel and have those seats.
Any opinion on these seats? I am in row 9 sec 114?
I just purchased tickets for my moms 50th bday for Billy Joel. I got tickets in section 214 in the 1st row (my mom has issues with standing for long periods of time so I didnt want anyone in front of her). However we have seats 1&2 and they say side stage. Are these good seats or should I try to get something better?
Hi Katie – Although they are marked side stage, the layout is open and the piano Billy plays rotates so you should not have any issues seeing the performance.
Hi, looking to make my first ever trip to MSG for the Billy Joel Concert
on June 20th. I was wondering, I’m looking at 2 different pairs of
tickets for myself and my wife: Sec 113 Row 19, or Sec 218 Row 5.
The
113 tix are about 35-40 bucks more expensive per ticket, but are near
the back of the section. Would the tix in 113 be that much lower to be
worth the extra 70-80 bucks per ticket versus simply getting the seats
in 218? Is the view okay from 218, or might that be too high behind the stage?
Chris – I think the seats in Section 218 are a great value and I think you’re on the right track to consider them over the seats in Section 113, Row 19. It’s of course a matter of personal preference, but if it were me, I’d tend to agree with you and would choose Section 218 for the cheaper price. Thanks!
Awesome. Thank you so much for the response Joe!
wondering how the view was from section 218?
Hi, I’m looking at section 112 as well as floors in A or B around row 20. Which would be better seats (not accounting for price – I know 112 would be less)…and if it’s 112, how high up would be ideal? Is row 10 better than row 14 for example (or is it vice-versa)? Thanks so much for the insights!!
