This Week’s Big Ticket Game – New York Jets vs Seattle Seahawks

In this week’s inaugural edition of TickPick’s Big Ticket Game, the New York Jets (1-2) host the Seattle Seahawks (2-1) this Sunday, Oct. 2 at Metlife Stadium.

After suffering a 24-3 blowout loss at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday, the Jets are in desperate need of a marquee win. Prior to last weekend’s defeat, the Jets were widely considered a playoff-caliber team, ready to take on the division rival New England Patriots for the AFC East crown. However, many doubts have sprung up about the team’s ability to compete for the division.

In the NFL, every game is important for each team, and every loss raises the stakes for the team’s chances of making the playoffs. Jets head coach Todd Bowles and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick understand the implications this Sunday’s game has on the outlook of the remaining season. They will need to adjust and execute a better game plan if they have any chance at beating the Seahawks and their star-studded defense, headlined by their “Legion of Boom” secondary.
The Seahawks come into Sunday’s game riding high after putting the hammer down on their NFC West division rivals, the San Francisco 49ers, 37-18. Despite suffering a significant leg injury during last week’s game, Seahawks star quarterback Russell Wilson is expected to play against the Jets. With Wilson under center, the Seahawks are a perennial Super Bowl contender. It does not matter when, where, or who the Seahawks play, they are always favorites to win.

The importance of this week’s game cannot be understated, especially for the Jets. With over 4,000 tickets listed for sale and a get-in price of $60 per ticket for this game, TickPick has seen a surge in ticket sales since last week’s game. Ticket prices have historically gone up when home team’s face quality opponents in high-stakes games. Sunday’s game does not buck that trend. There are several factors as to why we are seeing this spike in sales: Jets fans are flocking to tickets as this is a must-win home game. They understand that this is an opportunity for their team to right the wrong and prove themselves on the field and within the division. And the Seahawks have some of the best-traveled and well-represented fans in the NFL. Their fans always attend away games in huge numbers. The combination of these two factors make the Jets vs. Seahawks game this week’s Big Ticket Game.
